Walking on air

According to the renown architect Claude Vasconti from Paris, ceilings still offer plenty of scope for new designs. He recently designed a multifunctional "ceiling sail" for stately rooms. The lowered part is not only an attractive eye-catcher with its imitations of elegant crane movements, but it is also equipped with sophisticated technology. The part is optionally equipped with direct or indirect lighting, discrete air flow passages, heating and cooling surfaces as well as inconspicuous hi-fi loudspeakers, smoke alarms and sprinkler heads. The ceiling wings are up to 4.6m long and 0.8m wide. The technical details have been developed by Trox together with the consulting firm RMC in Luxembourg. The customer had specified a high degree of thermal comfort, an option on spherical light and sound effects, and especially a distinct yet discrete optical impression.
